Internet companies have been in the news lately with ATT and Time Warner merging (it Will be called Warner media). This is because of the aggressive competition from the likes of Netflix and Amazon.

This information is sold to advertisers, who will use this information to display ads specifically for you. Ultimately, this isn’t that bad since the consumer gets to see what they want to see. History of Internet Companies (ISPs):
It all began with personal computers around the ’80s and integrated circuit technology progress. But another important part was local area connections. Scientists began to think big. Instead of an email being bound only to a local network, it could go further. Thus, with the coming changes at AT&T, an email service would be tested and connected to the internet. What followed then was a boom in inactivity and the rise of the internet. Before ISPs, the internet was funded as part of the research project by the government. There was very little commercial use of the internet until late in the ’90s. Hence, the introduction of the World Wide Web. Another reason for the rise of individual ISPs was that it was more economical.

In later years during the ’90s, tens of thousands of providers existed. But these providers would rely on regional/national ISPs. Ultimately, many of these companies would be joined or bought out by larger ISPs; hence, we have just around 8-10 big players today. As seen in the illustration, all the famous and not-so-popular service providers can be seen. Since their origin is covered, how exactly do these providers work? How do you get internet?
