Many Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and WebOS applications can be used from their handheld device for WordPress. This creates a convenient way for web users to access and use WordPress on the go wherever they are in the world.

To make changes to your site’s theme, you may go to the appearance screen, where you can choose from a list of currently installed themes. To create a post, you will do so on the posts screen.

You can find your posts stored in Categories or Tags for an organization and manage your posts. You will need to click on the single category in the homepage’s sidebar to see a specific page that has been made to display only the posts within that category. In other words, the post you created exists within a page as your homepage or the front page. By clicking on the post’s title, you will be led to the specific page for that post.

WP Home Page

The first page or homepage of your site features the most recent posts. Each post title will link to the actual page of the post. Any changes to your site are created from only a few files called template files. Adding anything to your header, you will know to look within the header section of your style sheet, which is the file that controls the look of your web page. Dee Tal from Beginning With WordPress: First Steps With Your New Website advised creating a page, you can either go to the Admin bar then select a new link up there, and you will then see a list that will drop down, and the items you can create from there is considered a Page.

Another way to do it is to go to the dashboard, select the pages, link in the Sidebar menu to create a new page from there, find the pages listing section, and add a new one. Also adding, if wanting to make any changes to where our blog listing happens and add a static page for your front page, do so in the static pages.

New to Programming?

Most of us new to programming might seem like WordPress website design has been around forever. It may seem like it’s always existed. Believe it or not, that’s not the case. WP was released in 2003. There were originally only a few users and a little code. It was created to enhance the typography of writing. It’s an open-source community. What exactly does that mean? Open source is something that anyone can add to and create.

That means thousands of people worldwide are constantly updating, improving, and adding to the platform. It’s a CMS (content management system) that you can use without licensing fees. It’s also the most popular system in use today. Current estimates say that over 20% of all websites today use WordPress.

So why should you choose WP?

Some people might still think of it as just a blogging platform. They couldn’t be more wrong. First, you can create a great website without learning much about coding. And once you get familiar with the platform, it can be done quickly.

There are lots of tools for building and maintaining your website. WordPress works well with lots of different types of sites. With the many plugins, you can create food and recipe sites, fashion sites, e-commerce sites, and blogs. You could use it for anything! If you’re a programmer and know how to code, it may not be worth figuring out how to use WordPress for simple sites.

If you’re creating a site for a customer who wants to be hands-on, has a blog, or is constantly updating their content, WP may be the way to go. With some time, your customer can learn to add content or blog posts. They could even add pictures to their gallery. This does not mean that experienced developers won’t benefit from using WordPress. The possibilities are endless if you’re good with HTML, CSS, and PHP!

There are many content management systems out there. They include platforms such as Drupal, Joomla, and PHPNuke, in addition to WP. So, why choose WordPress over others? Probably the biggest reason is that it’s used on more websites than any other single CMS out there. The user’s benefit is that it’s probably already been answered many times if you have a question.

There is a massive community with hundreds of forums to search and look to for help. Usually, even the most challenging problem can be solved by searching. Also, there are thousands of themes and plugins, many of which are free or low-cost. Hopefully, you can see why you should be looking at WordPress. Even if you love writing code and never want to use a content management system to build a site, somewhere along the way, a client is going to ask you, “What about WordPress?
